WhatsApp update introduces new feature allowing seamless sharing of status updates on Instagram- Learn more about it

WhatsApp is said to be working on a new feature that will allow users to easily share their status updates on Instagram. According to a report from WABetaInfo, which is owned by Meta, the feature is currently being developed with the goal of simplifying media sharing. Users will have the option to cross-post their WhatsApp status updates directly to their Instagram Stories.

What is the new WhatsApp feature?

The feature, which is still under development, is expected to improve WhatsApp’s sharing functionality by integrating it with Instagram. Users may choose to activate this cross-transmission option when it becomes available in a future update. Initially, the feature is inactive, requiring user participation.

Importantly, users retain control over the visibility of the content they share on Instagram through their Instagram story audience settings. They can also disable the feature at any time after activation.

The introduction of this feature is seen as a step to simplify the status update process across multiple platforms. Instead of creating and posting separate updates on WhatsApp and Instagram, users can complete this task in one step.

WhatsApp set a new “record”

In related news, WhatsApp recently made headlines in India for its strict measures to combat account abuse. In February, the messaging platform revealed a record number of account bans. A total of 7.6 million WhatsApp accounts in India were banned, with 1.4 million accounts being “proactively banned”. These actions were taken in accordance with the IT Rules (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) 2021 to prevent misuse of the platform and ensure compliance.
